Gorgeous, Glossy, Plump, Pout, Voluptuous, Voluminous…
Do you wish these words could describe your lips? If so, here at Celeste Medical we can help you achieve this.
Lips have become a focal point of facial attention, and for many people, fuller lips are perceived as a sign of youth and beauty. Dermal filler can be used to enhance and define your natural lip shape and give you the fuller lips you’ve always dreamed of. As we age, our lips can become thinner, start to recede, and appear asymmetrical. Hyaluronic acid injections can restore our lips volume and fullness and balance any existing asymmetry.

Benefits of Lip Fillers

1. Add volume
2. Fill ‘smoker’s lines’
3. Re-define the lip border ( vermilion border)
4. Re-create the ‘cupids bow’

Does it hurt?

Undoubtedly, the lips are a super sensitive area of the face. Prior to treatment, a topical anaesthetic cream is applied for 15-20 minutes. This will numb the lip area and lessen any discomfort or pain. The product we use also contains lidocaine which is an anaesthetic and helps to ensure maximum comfort during the procedure. A tiny needle is injected into exact areas of the lips to create the perfect lip for you. Due to the immediate swelling, it may not always be possible to judge the final finished result on the day. For this reason, we can arrange a follow-up review appointment after two weeks to assess your lips and carry out a touch-up treatment if needed.

How long will the results last?

The results of lip filler usually last between 6-9 months. Here at Celeste Medical we use a gold standard product for lip augmentation on the market. Everyone has a unique lip shape and lip size. Dr Mary is highly experienced in this procedure and will provide the ideal result personalised to your own natural facial features. The length of duration is variable and is dependant on multiple factors. Smoking, high metabolic rate, intense exercise, all increase the rate at which the dermal filler is broken down.

Post-treatment advice?

After lip injections, we would not recommend touching the lips or applying lip products on the lips for 8 hours to prevent infection. To reduce swelling and bruising, we advise our patients to ice the lip area afterwards and apply Arnica topically.

Are there any side-effects?

After the procedure, some mild bruising and swelling can occur. This is normal as we are injecting with a needle and the lips are a very sensitive area. To reduce the bruising and swelling we recommend taking Arnica before the treatment, and to apply topical Arnica cream after the treatment. We also advise you not to take anti-inflammatory medications such as neurofen and aspirin for one week leading up to treatment. These medications can thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising and swelling.
If you suffer from cold-sores, there is a risk that multiple needle punctures can contribute to the eruption of a new cold-sore. To prevent this from occurring, we recommend taking Lysine tables daily for two weeks leading up to treatment.
